Strategic Planning: A Keat Literacy consultant can spend time with school leaders (administrators, instructional coaches, and teacher-leaders) to determine school-wide literacy goals and initiatives for the immediate and long-term future. Strategic planning may include school walk-throughs, review of literacy curriculum, review of assessment data, and group planning time.

Faculty Planning: Faculty literacy planning support is offered to facilitate professional learning in a small group determined by grade level or by a certain topic. Faculty planning usually lasts 1-2 periods per group. Multiple groups can meet within one day or can be combined with other professional development services.

Classroom Support: Keat Literacy consultants join teachers in the classroom to demonstrate, co-teach, or observe specific literacy methods and structures with students in a real classroom setting. Classroom sessions are designed with specific goals in mind for the teachers and administrators who will attend. Classroom sessions are always followed by a debrief period and are often preceded by a planning meeting.
*The above offerings for services can be grouped together to form full days of on-site professional development.
Full Day Workshops:
Full day workshops focus on a specific topic for professional development with a larger group of faculty. Topics for full day workshops may include: Guided Reading, Read Aloud Methods, Writing Across the Curriculum, Invented Spelling, etc. Full day workshops work well during an in-service day when your goal is to have a large group of faculty dive deeply into one topic.
Multiple Day Workshops:
We present workshops that span multiple days on a larger, broader topic. Topics for multi-day workshops may include: Reading Workshop 101, Writing Workshop 101, Small Group Instructional Methods, Assessment-Based Planning for Differentiation, etc. These workshops work well for full-faculty professional development, new teacher training, and adoption of a new curricular component.
Remote Support:
Individuals and small groups can receive remote support via video conference.
